The client required the extension of their existing berth by 150m to the north, which is used to receive containers and general/bulk cargo. This included the removal of the existing dolphin and construction of a new one, adjustment of the junction area between the existing approach bridge and Phase II splay area to facilitate the flow of traffic to and from the berth extension and readjustment of appropriate utilities. The client also required the purchase of berthing fenders, supply and installation of crane rails, supply and implementation of additional HV power supplies to container gantry cranes.
SMC provided the detail design for this extension and advised the client during the tender process and selection of the contractor then supervised the construction on site. SMC also prepared specifications and drawings for the fender procurement and crane rail works.
