Laemchabang Terminal A2 Condition Survey

Thai Laem Chabang Terminal (TLT), a subsidiary of Hutchison Ports, wished to undertake a condition survey of their existing wharf at Terminal A2. The objective of the survey was to identify any potential damage and repair works which may be necessary and TLT has engage SMC to undertake such condition survey of the wharf at Terminal A2.

Laem Chabang Terminal A2 is a multipurpose terminal located at Basin 1 of Laem Chabang Port. The terminal includes a 400m long wharf equipped with container and general cargo handling equipment and facilities.

The scope of work for the survey was as follows:  
• Visual site inspection of the condition of the wharf structure below deck and piles from top to seabed.
• Survey above water to cover the full area of the wharf underside including all beams, slabs, and top of piles.
• Underwater survey to include a general inspection of 70 piles and a detailed inspection of 10 selected piles with video recordings and wall thickness measurements.
